Professional Development

One of the key components to creating and maintaining a quality child care program is providing early childhood teachers with the support, education, and resources needed to be successful in the classroom. The ELC provides a variety of professional development opportunities and support services to early childhood teachers. Our goal is to promote school readiness and improve the learning outcomes of young children by providing high-quality, up-to-date professional development. These opportunities improve the knowledge and skills of early childhood educators and caregivers.

CPR | First Aid Classes

In-person classes will be held on scheduled Saturdays from 8:30am – 12:30pm at our Leon County Service Center. Masks and social distancing will be enforced as COVID precautions.

Virtual Workshops

ELC 4358 – Growing Curiosity in Young Children through STEAM

Learning happens naturally as children explore, play, and try new things. Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math  (STEAM) supports brain development and opens doors to eagerness, exploration, and curiosity.  Young children learn best through hands-on experiences, which we will set up and practice through the STEAM curriculum.   This course will give you various ideas and the tools to teach STEAM indoors and outdoors. With spring around the corner, it’s the perfect time to put STEAM into daily opportunities for learning.
